Disability benefits for veterans with service-connected disabilities on the rise
After more than a decade of continuous warfare, the cost of disability compensation for wounded veterans is surging to mammoth proportions.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs expects to spend $57 billion on disability benefits next year. That's up 25% from $46 billion this year, and nearly quadruple the $15 billion spent in 2000, before the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan began.

Father exposes teachers’ abuse of his autistic son by sending him to school wearing a wire
NEW YORK - - A New Jersey school district has fired at least two educators for verbally abusing autistic children after a father sent his 10-year-old autistic son to school wearing a hidden microphone upon suspecting he was being mistreated by staff.
The audio recordings, made public in a 17-minute video later posted on YouTube, capture educators speaking in harsh tones to the autistic children, including one in which a woman tells the young boy what sounds like “You are a bastard.”

School prohibits 5-year-old girl with cerebral palsy from using her walker; requires her to use a wheelchair instead against child’s and parents’ wishes
Lakay Roberts, a 5-year old schoolgirl who suffers from cerebral palsy, has been banned from using her walker at school. Lakay needs the walker to get around and has used it at Kings Manor Elementary School in Kingswood,Texas, for the past two years.
